Guttercrest’s Aluminium Rainwater Products featured on NI’s House of the Year 2024

We are delighted to announce that Guttercrest’s Aluminium Rainwater Products feature on this stunning property, which has just been crowned Northern Ireland’s house of the year 2024.

The recently renovated Melmore House in Holywood, County Down, won the coveted title during a six-part BBC series hosted by Laurence Llewelyn Bowen.

The detached period residence, which dates to 1855, was transformed by owners Fiona and Jonathan into a ‘modern family home’ with views overlooking Belfast Lough.

Through a partnership with JP Corry, Guttercrest manufactured and supplied moulded Ogee gutters, traditional downpipes and hopper heads – all polyester powder coated in our black heritage finish.

The heritage coating has a textured finish, which replicates the look of traditional cast iron but with the added benefit of being lightweight, sustainable and low maintenance – aligning perfectly with the ethos of this sympathetic renovation.

Five homes made it to the Grand Final of the BBC Northern Ireland series, presented by design expert and television personality Laurence Llewelyn Bowen, and judges Patricia McGinnis, Jane Larmour and James Fairley had the task of choosing an overall winner.

Judge Jane Larmour admired the homeowners’ commitment to the old house, retaining its existing character, and at the same time enhancing it with clever adaptations to make it a wonderful family home.

Melmore House’s thoughtful blend of old and new, combined with its breathtaking views and sensitive renovation, led the judges to crown it the top home of 2024.
