Our Aluminium Parapet and Boundary Wall Gutters can also be manufactured as a parapet gutter liner. Metal parapet and boundary wall gutters will be manufactured to suit each project as we can produce an infinite amount of gutter sizes to suit your individual project requirements. Special profile parapet and boundary wall gutters can be fabricated or pressed.
Parapet and Boundary Wall Design
Having the correct parapet and boundary wall flow capacity is more critical than with an eaves gutter, so calculating the flow rates accurately is essential. These flow rates can be calculated by our designers so please contact our technical department if you would like assistance. An additional freeboard (of up to 75mm) over the maximum water level is recommended to allow for splashing and waves.
Consideration needs to be taken when deciding on the gutter gauge and support to whether the parapet and boundary wall gutter is going to take foot traffic. It is good practice to have some gutter overflows as the consequences of overflow or leakage are serious, so their correct design and installation are very important.
As the parapet and boundary wall gutters are part of the roof they may also be need to be insulated to comply with thermal requirements with respect to excess heat loss, thermal bridging and the risk of condensation.
We have a range of Hopper Heads and Rainwater Downpipes available to complement our Parapet and Boundary Wall Gutters.
BS 9101:2017
For best practice, installers should ensure that any gutters they fit comply to British Standard BS 9101:2017 Steel and aluminium rainwater systems.
Our standard gutters are generally compliant with BS 9101:2017*.
The standard specifies the requirements for the design and manufacture of metal gutters on industrial, commercial and residential buildings. It reflects the range of materials and manufacturing technologies available and applies to the manufacture of steel and aluminium metal gutter systems.
This British Standard specifies the materials, tolerances, mechanical properties and surface conditions, coatings, laminated surfaces, jointing methods and fixings for rainwater systems, including fittings and accessories for assembly or support.
The British Standard is available from www.shop.bsigroup.com.
*Fitting gutter using rafter or mortar brackets may compromise compliance
